| Dad's Introduction For a teenager, Morgan has been making serious, saleable art for a long time. He works in pen and ink, pencil, marker, and clay, both sculpture and wheel thrown functional pottery. This is the story I tell about how I knew with certainty that he was going to be very talented in the arts. When he was 6 years old I moved into a new studio that had been built in State College, PA called The Creative Oasis One of the benefits of teaching was being able to order personal supplies at just above cost, so for his birthday I got him a pack of 18x24 inch construction paper, crayons, markers, pencils and other miscellaneous supplies. As a 6 year old I expected him to draw on, or cut the paper. What actually happened was a real surprise to me. He laid out the paper in tiles on the floor and taped the edges together then began folding and cutting it until he made a chinese dragon complete with detailed head that he could wear around the studio. I was floored. Stunned. Amazed...and still am. |
